Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension
By August end, commuters in Delhi can expect the functioning of 2.5-km section from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension on the Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg Metro corridor of Phase-IV.
This will be the first section to open in Delhi Metro Phase IV – said commissioner of Delhi Metro Railway Safety, who recently inspected the Krishna Park Station.
DMRC managing director, Mr. Vikas Kumar said : “The inspection of the new section has been done. We will incorporate all recommendations suggested and we hope to open it by Aug-end”
This stretch from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension is underground and it will be an extension of the Magenta Line (Line 8: Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden).
As of now, the residents of nearby colonies who have to go to Janakpuri West Metro station – will get convenience of another option due to the opening of Krishna Park Extension station. Just like we have seen in other newly constructed stations, Krishna Park Extension Metro station will also have Platform screen doors which are being installed primarily as a crowd management feature to help passengers to queue properly near the designated door areas as well as to ensure safer travel for r.
Just like, all the 29 trains on the Magenta Line have become completely unmanned as DMRC has removed the driver’s cabins, this new stretch on Phase IV corridor will also experience the same driverless operation. An attendant is present after a gap of three-four trains and the removal of attendants will be implemented in a phased manner.
About the completion of this entire Janakpuri West to RK Ashram stretch – well it is expectedly to be completed by 2026. This corridor has a total of 22 stations, including eight interchange stations – Janakpuri West, Peeragarhi, Pitampura, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Majlis Park, Azadpur, Pulbangash, and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg.
The DMRC is currently constructing 65-km of three priority corridors including:
- Janakpuri West to RK Ashram

The 12.3-km corridor from Jalis Park to Maujpur (Pink Line) is expected to be ready by 2025.

The Aerocity to Tughlaqabad (Golden Line) is likely to be done by 2026.
About these priority corridors, it’s worth noting that DMRC plans to open different sections in a phased manner by 2026. Not only these 3 priority corridors, it’s also important to mention that Union cabinet had also approved two more corridors under Phase IV in March:
- Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block (which will be extension of Golden Line) &
