Unique Perspectives on Delhi-Jaipur Toll Tax
- The toll tax is a regressive tax. Regressive taxes are taxes that disproportionately burden low-income individuals and families. The Delhi-Jaipur toll tax is a regressive tax because it is a flat tax that is applied to all users, regardless of their income.
- The toll tax is a barrier to entry. The toll tax can discourage people from using the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, especially those who are on a tight budget. This can have a negative impact on the tourism industry in Jaipur and the economic development of the region.
- The toll tax is not transparent. The NHAI does not disclose how the toll tax revenue is used. This lack of transparency has led to allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
Recommendations
- The NHAI should reduce the toll tax for frequent users of the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway. This could be done by introducing a monthly or annual pass system.
- The NHAI should be more transparent about how the toll tax revenue is used. This would help to build public trust and reduce allegations of corruption.
- The government should consider other ways to fund the maintenance and operation of the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, such as through public-private partnerships. This would reduce the burden on taxpayers.
The Delhi-Jaipur Expressway is a vital transportation link between the national capital and the popular tourist destination of Jaipur. The expressway has reduced travel time, improved safety, and boosted economic activity in the region.
Taveesh says
I had used this Delhi, jaipur, Mumbai expressway only once that to one sided. Because of very high toll charges. So while returning from jaipur to Delhi my pocket didn’t allow me to come by the mumbai Expressway. so I decide to go via old Expressway. And till now I go to jaipur from old Expressway. Which has lots of pot hole’s due to truck and bad maintenance by the state’s department. Even after paying the toll state push people to drive on bad roads. Which can cause accidents.
